Join us for Spaghetti Dinner Night and Silent Auction

Mark your calendars now for our annual Spaghetti Dinner Night and Silent Auction - Friday, February 10 from 5-8pm. This event is a great way for the Randolph community to enjoy an evening of food and fun while raising funds to support enrichment activities for our students.

Download an advance ticket order form and return it to school with payment by Friday, February 3. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. New this year, game ticket books include eight tickets (10 if purchased in advance); each game requires one ticket.

Your help is needed to make this event a success. Visit Sign-Up Genius to volunteer in the kitchen with Mrs. Hawk, run a game, or help with the silent auction.

We are also looking for some fabulous items for the auction. If you have your own business or know someone who does, or simply have something really awesome to donate, please consider sending it our way. Please send your contribution to school with our donation form or contact Christina Griffith for more information.

And don’t forget about your classroom basket for the auction. Room Parents will be sending home letters soon with your child’s classroom theme and some ideas for basket items. To help fill your classroom basket, you can either send in item(s) to place in the basket that go along with your theme, or send in a donation (attn: Room Parent) and items will be purchased for the basket. Don’t forget to keep your Room Parent posted if you send in a donation or purchase an item (to avoid duplicates!).

Sprucing Up Our School

Special thanks to Todd Walton and Tuckahoe Landscaping as well as Cub Scout Pack 710 for their hard work in sprucing up the outside of our school. Tuckahoe Landscaping cleaned up the small playground, big playground and helped fix some safety hazards before the start of school. Cub Scout Pack 710 and their families did an outstanding job of clearing our Nature Trail over the Labor Day weekend. A huge thank you to all involved in helping to make our school an inviting place for students and staff!

It is very important this year that we achieve 100% participation from our RES families. We are applying for several grants and in many cases you need to have full participation in the PTA to be considered.

We are offering fun incentives this year, including a surprise treat for the class in each grade level with the highest enrollment as well as a “prime” parking spot for their teacher. Download a membership form and return it with your dues payment ($5, cash or check payable to RES PTA). Thank you for your support!

Dear Parents,

The PTA welcomes you back to another year at Randolph Elementary School. This is such a happy time of year. The children have found their way and seem so comfortable at school.

We just measured each child for their Roadrunners on the Run t-shirt and are looking forward to a great event on Friday, October 14. In addition to the run, we’ll hold our annual Spaghetti Dinner Night and Silent Auction in February – always a fun family night – and will have a special spirit gear sale of Randolph Roadrunner Tervis Tumblers this fall. Details on the tumblers will be available during the PTA’s Back to School Night meeting on Tuesday, September 20.

These fundraisers are necessary to achieve our PTA goal of providing additional enrichment activites to the RES curriculum this school year. Funds raised will help provide each grade level with in-school field trips. We look forward to sharing these events with you, while supporting our school and children as a community.

PTA membership is very important this year. Please help us reach our goal of 100% family participation. We are applying for grants that may be available to help RES with an after school robotics program, developing an outside classroom in our courtyard area and supporting our art and music programs, to name a few opportunities. In some cases, 100% family participation is a requirement to receive a grant. As always, we have 100% teacher participation and we thank the RES staff for their support.

We look forward to working with each family and supporting each other as a community to make our children’s education the best it can be. Please contact any member of the PTA Board if you have questions or concerns.

Please join the PTA in congratulating Darlene Martin, Goochland County’s Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Martin is an enthusiastic, energetic, compassionate and committed educator. She is beloved by the students and parents at Randolph and valued as a friend and colleague to those who teach with her. She is most deserving of this prestigious award – congratulations Mrs. Martin!

Teacher Appreciation Week: May 2-6

We are celebrating Randolph Teachers with a week of special thank-yous! Every class will be doing the same activities, so mark your calendars and show them they are appreciated! Don’t forget – we all have Homeroom and Encore Teachers, and many of us have Resource Teachers as well. Keep our entire fabulous faculty in your thoughts while planning this special week!

Monday, May 2: “Surplus of Supplies”
Bring in items to be placed in a bucket/basket for your teacher. (Ideas include post-it notes, pencils, glue, staples, pens, dry erase markers.)

Tuesday, May 3: “Handwriting from the Heart”
Present your Homeroom, Encore and Resource Teachers with pictures and/or handwritten thank-you notes.

Wednesday, May 4: “Gifts of Gratitude”
Teachers will be given a class gift or each student can send in a token of their gratitude for their teacher.

Thursday, May 5: “Leisurely Lunchtime”
Teachers will be able to enjoy their lunch in a peaceful environment. Lunchtime will be covered by two parents from each class.

Friday, May 6: Teacher Luncheon
The PTA will hold a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon at 1pm (this is an early dismissal day).

Secondary Education Informational Meeting – Tuesday, May 10, 6pm

The Gifted Advisory Committee will host a meeting on May 10th at 6:00 p.m. in the GHS cafeteria for parents with children in elementary and secondary schools to discuss the educational options in secondary. GAC wants to make sure that moving from elementary to middle and high school is not a mystery! This meeting is not just for 5th grade parents or those in the gifted program - any parent who wants to know the education options available at GMS and GHS are welcome and encouraged to attend.
