The Battle for the Roadrunner Trophy is near! Yellow vs. Green, come cheer on your team at this year’s Field Day, Friday, April 19. The weather is finally getting warmer and SOLs are right around the
corner, so let’s take a day to enjoy one of the great traditions in our children’s lives.

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY
K/1st: 8:45-10:30am
2nd/3rd: 10:30am-12:30pm (kids will have lunch from 11:15-11:45)
4th/5th: 12:30-2:15pm
5th Grade vs. Teachers Kickball: 2:15-2:45pm

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Please visit our Volunteer Sign-Up to help out during Field Day. Volunteer shifts are assigned by class, so you can stay with your child’s class for indoor or outdoor games, or serve as a runner during their time slot. We need your help to make this event a success!

THINGS TO KNOW

Students will be divided into two teams (yellow vs. green) to battle for the Roadrunner Trophy.
Students should wear their team’s color. Parents will be notified of team color by Wednesday, April 17.
Each grade level will compete together and each class will compete against each other.
Water bottles and water will be provided. Students need to bring snacks.
Students will be outside for at least 45 minutes, so please put sunscreen on your child, or send it to school with them.

RES Spirit Wear – Forms Due Friday, April 12

Show your school spirit with our spring spirit wear! New this year, we’ve got sport shorts for girls and boys (and adults!) with the RES logo, as well as tye dye t-shirts in short and long sleeve. Return your completed spirit wear order form by Friday, April 12. All orders will be processed after this date and delivered to students within three weeks.

Join us for Spaghetti Dinner Night and Silent Auction!

Mark your calendars now for our annual Spaghetti Dinner Night and Silent Auction - Friday, March 1 from 5-8pm. This event is a great way for the Randolph community to enjoy an evening of food and fun while raising funds to support enrichment activities for our students.

Check out our Spaghetti Dinner Night web page for all the details and download an advance ticket order form and return it to school with payment by Friday, February 3. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Game ticket books include ten tickets; each game requires one ticket, bouncys are free!

Your help is needed to make this event a success. Visit Sign-Up Genius to volunteer in the kitchen with Mrs. Hawk, run a game, or help with the silent auction.

Don’t forget about your classroom basket for the auction. You should have received a letter from your Room Parents with your child’s classroom theme and some ideas for basket items. To help fill your classroom basket, you can either send in item(s) to place in the basket that go along with your theme, or send in a donation (attn: Room Parent) and items will be purchased for the basket. Don’t forget to keep your Room Parent posted if you send in a donation or purchase an item (to avoid duplicates!).

PTA After School Classes – Forms Due 2/11

PTA AFTER-SCHOOL CLASSES
Tuesdays, February 26, March 5, 12 & 19, 3:15-4:15pm

ENROLLMENT FORMS DUE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11

The Randolph Elementary School PTA will once again offer after-school classes taught by Goochland County teachers, parents and outside vendors. These classes are fun, active and interesting! They offer students a break from their regular afternoon routines, while also providing a safe learning environment.

Classes include Soccer, Bricks for Kidz (Legos), Engineering (STEM), Tae Kwan Do, Mad Science and more! Download an enrollment form and take advantage of this fun-filled opportunity. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration forms are due, with payment, by Monday, February 11. You will receive confirmation of your child’s placement by Friday, February 15.

PTA Reflections Contest Winners Announced

Congratulations to all students who participated in this year’s PTA Reflections Contest. The PTA would like to thank Cindy Edmonds, RES Art Teacher, Jennifer Stern, Reflections Committee Chair, and committee members Beth Fowler, Joy Wise, JoD Hosken, Beth Baldwin, Leigh Ann Pruitt, Theresa Green and Beth Hungate. This contest takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to organize, and we truly appreciate the hard work of Mrs. Edmonds, Mrs. Stern and all the wonderful committee members!

Gift cards to Sweet Frog were awarded to the top three winners in each category at last night’s PTA meeting. First place winners will move on to compete at the district-wide level.

PTA Membership Drive Ends, Winners Announced

Thanks to our parents and teachers who joined the PTA this year. We had 100% teacher participation and almost 250 families (out of 306) join, which is tremendous!

The winners of this year’s membership drive in each grade level will receive a special treat, prime parking spot for their teacher and an award certificate outside their classroom.

Goochland County has cancelled all afternoon and evening activities due to impending weather. We will move Back to School Night to our scheduled October meeting on Tuesday, October 23, and move Grandparents’ Night to November.
