Back to School Night and Box Tops

Tonight is Back to School Night. Please take a moment to sign up for the PTA when you arrive. There will be a table at the front collecting cash or check payments. Or if you prefer to use a debit/credit card, there will be a computer set up in the library for online payments. Classes that receive 100% participation earn their teacher the new staff RES Polo shirt and a prime spot parking for a week! Plus the kids will receive a brag tag and a 15 minute extra recess with popsicles! Joining the PTA does not mean you have to volunteer. It does keeps you in the loop of all information being sent by the PTA.

The PTA meeting is from 6:30-7:00, classroom visits from 7:00-7:30 & 7:30-7:55, if you have a second class to visit.

Also, the first collection of box tops are due tomorrow! You should have received your child’s envelope at the beginning of school.

Roadrunners on the Run – Sponsor Packets Due Sept 19!

Information packets went home last week – please review these materials! Complete as many sponsor mailers as possible (10 per child is our goal) and/or collect sponsor donations in the given collection envelope. Students who return 10 sponsor forms and/or sponsor donations will receive a Roadrunners on the Run brag tag! All addressed and stamped mailers and collected donations need to be returned to your child’s teacher by September 19 in the white collection envelope. We will then mail out your sponsor letters from school with return envelopes included. Your sponsors can simply fill out the form and mail their donation back to Randolph. (Don’t forget to include stamps on your mailers!)

NEW THIS YEAR, send your sponsors to our online store for an easy way to make a donation! Customize our sample email for your friends and family and send it, along with a sponsor form, to collect donations. Sponsors can make an online donation, or download the form and mail it back with payment. For online donations, be sure to ask your sponsor to add your child’s name and teacher’s name in the “Write a Note to Seller” box during checkout. Don’t forget to add your sponsor email addresses to the front of your run envelope to count them towards your 10 sponsor goal.

PTA Reflections Contest: “The World Would Be a Better Place If…”

Reflections is an art contest sponsored by the National PTA. Students can submit entries that illustration the theme “The World Would Be a Better Place If…” in one of the following art forms:

  • Dance Choreography
  • Film/Video Production
  • Literature
  • Musical Composition
  • Photography
  • Visual Art

Artwork is due by October 1 and must follow the rules designated by the Virginia PTA (available here or check for information posted outside the art room). An entry form must be included with each submission.

I hope that you encourage your kids to participate in this great program. I can’t wait to see what they make!

Welcome to the 2014-15 School Year!

Welcome back for another GREAT year at Randolph Elementary School! Our PTA has many exciting plans underway for the year. Our goal is to be a RESOURCE for our families and staff by providing enrichment and support to our students. I am amazed by the things that get accomplished, the support we have at our school and the drive of our INCREDIBLE families and staff.

5th Grade Graduation News

Please click the link below for our fact sheet and permission form for the 5th grade graduation ceremony and pool party. It contains a great deal of important information, so please take a moment to review it.

The highlights:

  • When and where:  June 4th at 9:00 a.m. in the RES cafeteria.
  • The pool party follows at the Goochland Family YMCA from 10:30 to 2:30. Lunch is provided and volunteers are needed to help out.
  • A professional photographer will be at the ceremony. You can order prints using the attached form.
  • There is a suggested contribution of $5 per student to help offset the cost of the occasion.
  • The deadline for returning the permission form is Friday, May 23rd.

Are you ready for Field Day fun?




The annual battle is on, Friday, April 25th:  Green vs. Gold for the RES Trophy!


The grade levels will go two classes at a time, rotating among four games inside, snack or lunch, then continuing to four games outside.


This will only require two volunteers per class, helping the class through either the inside game time or the outside games. We will also need two volunteers to serve as runners for two grade levels.


The GREAT thing about this plan is that you can sign up to volunteer for your child’s class so that you don’t miss any of the excitement!
